Questions people ask

Is it free?

Yes. Searching for food and reading the food list need no account; a free OpenVibe account keeps your plans and your cupboard.

Where do the food banks and stores come from?

From OpenStreetMap, the map anyone can edit, under the Open Database License. Every result is credited and links to its OpenStreetMap entry, and answers are cached for a week so OpenStreetMap is asked politely.

Are the prices live?

No. The food list carries typical prices from budget chains, and every price says so.

How does the meal planner work?

Tell it how many people, how many days and, if you like, a budget. It picks budget foods that cover each food group, splits the shopping by the cheapest store and lays out a menu for each day.

Is the cupboard advice dietary advice?

No. It matches what you have against simple recipes written by OpenVibe and says which ones you can make now and which need one or two more things.
